Blog, the magazine is a new and unique idea in the world of blogging.  Instead of writing posts every day, or even every few days, we write them in batches.  Each batch of posts is called an issue, just like an issue of a normal magazine.

What does this mean for me?

If you subscribe to this blog, which we urge you to do, you’ll receive all the newest issues as soon as they’re available.  Each issue contains a minimum of three articles.  Because articles are released less regularly then other blogs, and because they are grouped together, you get the very best content.  Nothing is rushed out of the door.  We are also able to provide themed issues, where all the articles follow a theme.

Why are you doing this?

The primary motivating factor behind this idea is experimentation.  Blogging, although fairly new, is pretty stuck in its ways.  So we want to mix things up a bit, see what’s possible.  This experimentation doesn’t mean you, the reader, gets a raw deal.  Quite the opposite in fact.  Because this is a blog about blogging (how very meta!), we’ll be posting the results as we go.

A word about the front page

Like any magazine worth its salt, we have a nice image on the front page of each issue.  The image reflects the theme of the headline article, the big story for that issue.  We also have to choose which articles make it to the front page.  There’s limited space up there, so each article has to fight for its spot.  If you want to see the full contents listing for that issue, click on the “Read all articles in this issue” link.  If you want to go even further back, you can see the entire list of back-issues by following the link in the footer.
